Encino is an upscale suburban neighborhood in Los Angeles’ San Fernando Valley. Outdoor recreation is plentiful. The Santa Monica Mountains to the south provide a glorious backdrop to picturesque and peaceful Encino. Encino’s approximate population of 43,000 ranks it among the lowest in population densities for Los Angeles.

Homes for sale in Encino range in price from $700,000 to $7 million and above. The median home value is approximately $900,000. Condos, and townhomes range 225 – 850,000. a few parcels of land for sale between 750,000 and 2 million. Occasionally there is a multi family investment property.

Encino Shopping, Dining, & Entertainment

The family-friendly residential areas are within a walk or short drive to a wide array of delights on Ventura Boulevard, which serves as an extended shopping, primping, and dining district. Eateries run the gamut from local delicacies to chain restaurants and quick-serve favorites. Katsu-Ya is one of the top sushi bars in the San Fernando Valley.

Nightlife in Encino tends to be elegant and laidback. The Red Room Food and Wine Bar has live music and The Spot serves premium hookah and stays open late.

Encino grocery stores include Ralphs, Trader Joe’s, and Gelson’s, Sabzee Mediterranean Market provides the neighborhood with Persian specialty items.

The Tapia Brothers farm sits in the middle of Encino by Balboa Park and sells its fresh produce at the farm’s outdoor fruit stand. There’s a pumpkin patch for Halloween and Christmas Trees in December. The Encino Farmers Market opens its doors on the north side of Balboa Park every Sunday morning.

Independent film lovers from all over Southern California head to Encino to view specialty films at the Laemmle Theaters in Encino Commons or at the nearby ArcLight Cinemas.

Encino Recreation

Balboa Park, technically Anthony C. Beilenson Park, is part of The Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area — a large area with a wildlife reserve, Lake Balboa, The Japanese Garden, multiple golf courses, tennis, volleyball, and basketball courts, soccer fields, baseball diamonds, bike paths. The recreation area also has archery and the best cricket set-up the United States has to offer.

The Sepulveda Basin Off-Leash Dog Park has 6.5 acres of leash-free dog area, a 0.5-acre small dog area, and an on-leash picnic area. Libbet Park is a small pocket park where dogs run free.

The Sepulveda Garden Center is a community garden area in Encino, with 16 acres of land and 420 garden plots.

5-acre Los Encinos State Historic Park features historic buildings, a small museum, a natural spring, a pond, and picnic grounds.

Encino Park features a basketball court and a couple of tennis courts and is home each year to the free folk music festival put on by the California Traditional Music Society.

The Encino Velodrome has provided an outdoor bicycle racing track since 1963.

Convenient Location

Highway 101, or the Ventura Freeway, cuts right through the neighborhood to connect you to Santa Barbara or downtown Los Angeles, and Interstate 405 on the east side and connects Encino with Orange County, Santa Clarita Valley, and Westside Los Angeles.
