Valencia is an upscale suburb in northern Santa Clarita and within Los Angeles County, south of Southern California’s scenic forests and hills. The community is renowned for its safe neighborhoods, welcoming community, and picturesque housing with mountain views. It was founded as a master-planned community, so all of Valencia's villages are close to schools, shopping, and other amenities. Public schools in Valencia are all blue ribbon and among the best in the nation. Valencia is also home to world-famous Six Flags Magic Mountain Amusement Park.
Valencia’s beautifully landscaped boulevards connect single-family homes, sprawling apartment complexes, and small condos with shopping centers, office parks, and industrial warehouses. Many of its single-family homes are in the style of cape cod, bungalow, and cottage.
Traffic is usually low and parking is easy to find. Valencia is a relatively bike-friendly neighborhood. There is a system of paved pathways called paseos that allow pedestrians and bicyclists to walk or ride over or under the streets and boulevards. They connect the entire community, making it possible to travel throughout nearly all of Valencia on foot or by bicycle. The paseo network is connected to the Santa Clara River Trail which runs east along the Santa Clara River to Canyon Country.
Outdoor recreation is a big part of everyday life in Valencia, with more than 30 miles of walking trails and family-friendly public parks. West Creek Park is a 17-acre green space with a spacious basketball court and a sand-covered children's play area. Castaic Lake State Recreation Area is 7 miles north, with two bodies of water for recreation. The lower lake is for non-power boating and canoeing and the upper lake is for sailing, power boating, and water and jet skiing. The Valencia Country Club and The Oaks Club at Valencia have golf courses.
Westfield Valencia Town Center has an abundance of retailers, restaurants, and theater, including an IMAX movie theater. There’s also Valencia Shopping Center and several shopping villages around town, next to family-friendly local eateries. Valencia has plenty of burger grills, casual Italian, seafood, and Asian restaurants. Local favorites include Catch 21, a little grill with big flavor, Olive Terrace Bar and Grill, serving mediterranean, and Lee's Wine Bistro. Meanwhile, favorite breweries include Pocock Brewery, Telco Brewery, Wolf Creek, and Draconum. Wine bars and chain pubs are also popular choices for Valencia’s casual nightlife.
For groceries, there is Ralph’s, the Valley Produce Market, and the Farmers Market at College Of The Canyons. College of the Canyons and the California Institute of the Arts both provide higher education in Santa Clarita. Valencia has a burgeoning art community with craft stores, dance studios and Mission: Renaissance Fine Art Classes.
Additional attractions of note are the annual Santa Clarita Cowboy Festival in Old Town Newhall, the William S. Hart Museum in central Santa Clarita, Concerts in the Park at Saugus, and The Canyon in Valencia.
